I’m Kim Lopshire-Fitton, a writer, avid reader, and nature-lover who has made my living working with words since 2013. While my initial goal with A Quill of Conservation was to keep a log of my personal development in ecology and conservation, those goals have had to take a back-seat to this pesky little thing called life. As of now, in 2023, I have decided to widen the scope, allowing myself a semi-public place to deposit the words that just aren’t content with being cooped up in my journal.
And, as always, I hope this can be a place that keeps me inspired to continue learning, growing, and increasing my personal accountability to make meaningful contributions to the causes that I love.
A Quill of Conservation was created and is maintained from within unceded Anishinabe Algonquin territory. The peoples of the Anishinabe Algonquin Nation have lived on this territory as stewards of this land and keepers of their culture, stories, and practices since time immemorial. They have persisted in the face of colonialization, and their continued presence here is a gift to all. This blog remains committed to the spirit of reconciliation, and this writer hopes her voice can join with the chorus of others rising to heal past hurts, stop current suffering, and prevent future harm.
